SWIFF Brings Outdoor Cinema to Bellingen this Spring

Outdoor cinema is coming to Bellingen!

Film, food trucks, and fun – Sep 9 & 10

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve been in Bellingen! The SWIFF team are  incredibly excited to be back in Bello this September for Bello Outdoor Movie Nights, with two free film screenings on Friday, September 9th and Saturday 10th at the Bellingen Showgrounds.

Bring a picnic rug and settle in for two exciting nights of fantasy, 80s music, big sleeves, and funky dance moves, as we celebrate the weird and wonderful talents of two iconic Davids: Bowie and Byrne.

There will be food trucks on site, fun prizes to be won, live music performances, and exciting SWIFF’23 announcements made across the two evenings.

This is a free community event, but online bookings are essential. Secure your tickets below.

Friday night: DAVID BYRNE'S AMERICAN UTOPIA

FRI 9 SEP · M · GATES OPEN 5PM

Kicking off Friday with the ultimate date night experience, bring a picnic rug and join us for David Byrne’s American Utopia (M – mild coarse language) and enjoy the joyous concert documentary that blends song, speech, dance and film to create a triumphant celebration of Talking Heads’ classics and Byrne’s many fantastic collaborations throughout the years.

American Utopia saw two sold out sessions at SWIFF’21, and now you’ve got a chance to see it on the big screen under the stars. Dancing is encouraged.

Saturday night: LABYRINTH

SAT 10 SEP ·  PG · GATES OPEN 5PM

Come back with the kids on Saturday to enjoy Jim Henson’s classic musical odyssey full of dastardly goblins, fantastical scenery, careless babysitters, and the most teased out mullet 1986 had to offer: Labyrinth (PG), starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.
After a wish gone wrong, Sarah (Connelly) must solve a magical labyrinth that would make Theseus blush bursting with a menagerie of singing puppets, swamps, riddles, and rooms straight out of an Escher painting to rescue her baby brother from the formidable Goblin King (David Bowie in his most iconic nose contour, and role).

What to bring on the nights

We’ve got the movies covered, but there’s a few things you might want to bring to make your nights super special:
