Congratulations to the team behind Becoming Colleen: Finding the Shoe that Fits, taking out the SWIFF’19 Audience Award!

Becoming Colleen follows Coffs Harbour local, Colleen Young, as she navigates a late-life gender transition at 82. Touching on aged care, community and the transgender experience, the film explores Colleen’s relationship with her family, wife Heather, and with growing up as Colin, before finally finding the shoe that fits.

The World Premiere of this elegant and kind documentary clearly resonated with SWIFF audiences, alongside the panel discussion with filmmakers and activist Sandra Pankhurst. 

Becoming Colleen: Finding the Shoe that Fits takes out the SWIFF’19 Audience Award, following 2018’s winner, Ellipsis. We look forward to what 2020 brings!
