For the 9-5ers – all SWIFF sessions after 5pm this week

To all the 9 to 5ers out there! Here is your post-5pm SWIFF movie line-up all this week. Clock off and hit the cinema at the Jetty Memorial Theatre in Coffs for your weekday film fix while the festival is on.

Remember – SWIFF Festival Hub (Element Bar) has a couple of happy hours every day from 4pm to 6pm and is open late every night for those post-film chats.  Head down after the film for a bubbly debrief. 

MONDAY

5:30PM: GHOSTHUNTER
Winner, Documentary Australia Foundation Award

Western Syndey security guard and part-time ghost hunter Jason has his troubling past bubble to the surface on his search for the supernatural. 

7:30PM: THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
Winner, Us Dramatic Directing, Sundance Film Festival

Convinced her student’s a poetry prodigy, Lisa (Maggie Gyllenhall) takes on 5-year-old Jimmy as a protege – and fascination becomes obsession.

TUESDAY

5:45PM: SHARKWATER EXTINCTION

The life-long obsession of marine conservationist Rob Stewart, who passed away in the making of this film, Sharkwater Extinction aims to bring the atrocities of illegal shark fishing to the surface into the sunlight. 

7:45PM: ARCTIC

Mads Mikkelsen gives a tour de force performance as a downed pilot in the arctic, slowly filling out the silhouette, who he is, where he has come from, and how he will survive in this chilling survival thriller. 

WEDNESDAY

6PM: SISTERS FOR SALE
AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE W/ SPECIAL GUEST BEN RANDALL

8:15PM: A VIGILANTE

Olivia Wilde gives a defining performance as an avenger who takes the law into her own hands, transforming herself into a brutally righteous underground heroine. A new perspective of what a super hero can be.

5:30PM: THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS

Three Identical Strangers has proved a favourite with SWIFF audiences, telling an almost unbelievable story about three identical triplet brothers adopted out to different families at birth – on purpose.

LIVE SOUNDTRACK BY THE MID NORTH

A highlight for SWIFF 2019, The Mid-North accomp…accompan…play the gee-tar real good LIVE along to a screening of the cinematic Coen Brothers masterpiece, O Brother Where Art Thou. Limited tickets remain. Second show Jan 20. 

FRIDAY

6PM: SHOPLIFTERS
Palme d'Or Winner, Cannes Film Festival

A light-fingered father and son take a neglected five-year old girl into their misfit family – but what of the girl’s parents? “The work of a master (director Kore-eda) in full command of his art.” Limited tickets. 

6PM FOR 6:30PM: NEXTWAVE YOUTH FILM AWARDS
C.EX COFFS, UPSTAIRS AUDITORIUM
