Nextwave 2019 Competition Closes
A record-breaking year for the next wave of voices in Regional Australian film
Submissions for Australia’s biggest regional youth film competition – NEXTWAVE – have now closed for 2019! This year we’ve heard from some incredible young voices, expressing themselves through film!
It’s been a record-breaking year for the program, with workshops taking place in over 70 regional schools in 18 council areas across NSW, teaching over 1400 young people the importance of storytelling and the magic of movie making.
Plus we’ve had over 60 awesome entries come in from around Regional Australia – dealing with issues facing young people today – technology, environment, friendship, mental health and of course, alien invasions!
We can’t wait to share their unique, inspiring, hilarious and exciting films with audiences at SWIFF’20 this summer (Jan 9-24, Coffs Coast), at the Nextwave Youth Film Awards!
Nextwave Youth Film Awards
Friday 17 January, 2020
It’s the most wild and raucous event at SWIFF!
Young filmmakers see the big screen premiere of their films in front of a LIVE and cheering audience. It sells out every year and it’s #lit!
Tickets redeemable from SWIFF Film Passes on sale now, with the full program announced early December.
More information to come at swiff.com.au or Screenwave’s Facebook page
Films are being judged by a panel of amazing Australian film voices, all who started just where our entrants are now, (and might just be familiar to SWIFF audiences, too) including Mark Grentell, Soda_Jerk and Sascha Ettinger-Epstein. They’ll choose the filmmakers who will be taking home trophies and filmmaking prizes on the night! It’s an incredible evening, and easily one of the highlights from the SWIFF program.
Presale passes for SWIFF’20 are on sale now, and there’s only four weeks left to grab them at the best value price- saving over $200! Once the full program is unveiled in December, you’ll be able to redeem your pass for sessions- such as the Nextwave Youth Film Awards!
