A word from festival directors Kate and Dave
Hey SWIFF friends!
It’s Kate and Dave here, and we’ve got a little bit of exciting news to share about SWIFF 2021.
SWIFF 2021 has been confirmed to take place in April next year. We’re just working on final dates for you to lock in, but circle mid-to-late April in your calendars as movie-watching time.
The best thing for us about the festival is the pulsing atmosphere and positivity you bring to the event. We decided to let COVID simmer down a bit more so everyone is safe and comfortable and ready for a deep dive into world cinema, events, live performances – and enjoying films the way they’re meant to be experienced.
Last year SWIFF contributed a little over $1.1m to Coffs Harbour and Bellingen’s local tourism economy – with international travel closed for now, we welcome our travelling SWIFF friends from around Australia to start booking in their April 2021 film-festival-by-the-sea holidays.
Supporting owners of cafes, restaurants, retail stores, and accommodation properties in our community is really important, particularly during what’s been a difficult year for everyone.
We are extremely happy to let you know that SWIFF 2021 will still be a 16-day celebration all about film and screen and movie love!
…just not in 40 degree heat.
And it gives us all a chance to show off our autumn collection.
But aside from fashion, the new April timeslot creates all sorts of new and interesting programming options to share together with our 10,000 closest friends from around the country.
To set the mood, relive some of the last festival, catch up on any flicks that you may have missed and have a look through SWIFF’s 2020 festival program here!
Local SWIFF friends – thank you for coming out in droves to support Cinematinee through the pandemic – with so many sessions selling out since we started back. There is so much passion and energy from our regular tribe of film lovers – and from all of us at SWIFF, we thank you very much.
We have a tonne of really exciting announcements coming – so stay tuned…
