SWIFF Partners With SSI to Present Homelands

SWIFF is proud to be supporting the Homelands Arts Tour 2021, brought to you by Settlement Services International (SSI) at the Coffs Harbour Education Campus (CHEC) on Thursday, June 24.

The screening event, hosted at CHEC’s O Block Theatre from 6pm and MC’d by SWIFF’s Festival Co-Director Dave Horsley, is FREE to attend, but has limited tickets available. First in, best dressed. Refreshments provided.

Touring from Sydney, Homelands 2021 presents ‘Beyond Refuge: Dialogues’ – a 50-minute exhibition of film and photography works created by six artists from refugee backgrounds. Beyond Refuge was produced by arts organisation CuriousWorks in collaboration with SSI and other migrant and refugee support organisations.

“At it’s heart, film is about seeing the world through the perspectives of others. Homelands provides us that opportunity through the lens of Australia’s most recent newcomers – our culturally-vibrant refugee community”, – Dave Horsley

Homelands aims to raise awareness and understanding of refugee experiences through cinematic exhibition and Q&A, bringing artists and communities together in creative and meaningful ways that promote social cohesion and unity.
